1. Booking & Payment Policy

Deposit: A 50% deposit is required to secure your booking.

Balance: The remaining balance must be paid no less than 7 days prior to the commencement date.

Late Payment: If the balance is not paid 7 days prior, Mountain Abandon reserves the right to regard the booking as cancelled and forfeit the deposit.

Pricing: All prices are quoted in South African Rand (ZAR).
2. Cancellation & Refund Policy
To ensure fairness and consistency, the following cancellation fees apply based on when we receive your written notification:

15+ Days Prior: Full refund of amount paid (less a 10% administration fee to cover banking/booking costs).

8–14 Days Prior: 50% of the total invoice amount is forfeited (The 50% deposit is retained).

0–7 Days Prior: 100% of the total invoice amount is forfeited. No refunds.

Processing: Refunds will be processed within 5 working days of receiving written instruction and banking details.
3. Weather & Force Majeure

All outings are environment and weather-dependent. Mountain Abandon prioritizes safety above all else.

Operator Cancellation: Should Mountain Abandon cancel a trip due to unsafe weather (e.g., severe storms, snow, flood risks) or other "Acts of God," clients will be offered the option to reschedule to a later date or receive a credit voucher valid for 12 months. Cash refunds for weather cancellations are at the discretion of management.

Route Changes: We reserve the right to alter routes or itineraries without prior notice should weather, road conditions, or safety considerations dictate. Such alterations do not constitute a breach of contract and no refunds will be given for itinerary adjustments.
4. Health, Fitness & Safety

Participant Responsibility: Participation in good health is required. It is the client’s strict responsibility to truthfully inform the guide of any medical conditions, recent injuries, allergies, or medication usage via our Medical Information Form prior to the trip.

Right of Admission: Mountain Abandon reserves the right to cancel an activity for any participant who appears under the influence of alcohol/substances, or whose behavior is deemed unsafe or unlawful. In such cases, no refund will be considered.

Alcohol: Alcohol is strictly prohibited during active hiking/adventure hours.
5. Indemnity & Limitation of Liability

Assumption of Risk: The client acknowledges that hiking, mountain running, and outdoor adventures carry inherent risks, including but not limited to physical exertion, uneven terrain, and unpredictable weather.

Waiver: Mountain Abandon (Pty) Ltd, its owners, guides, and employees shall not be held liable for any loss, damage, injury, illness, or death resulting from participation in our activities, except where such loss is caused by the gross negligence of Mountain Abandon.

Personal Belongings: We accept no responsibility for the loss, theft, or damage of personal belongings during the trip.
6. Equipment Rental

In cases of equipment rentals (tents, backpacks, etc.), the hirer assumes all risk of loss, theft, or damage.

Damages: The hirer agrees to return equipment in the same condition it was received. The hirer agrees to pay the full current retail replacement cost for any item that is lost, stolen, or damaged beyond normal wear and tear. Partial repairs are not accepted; damaged safety gear must be replaced in full.
7. Privacy (POPIA)

By booking with us, you consent to the processing of your personal and special personal information (medical info) as strictly required for your safety and the execution of the service. Please review our Privacy Policy for full details.
8. Marketing & Media

Mountain Abandon reserves the right to use photographs or videos taken during the expedition for marketing purposes. If you do not wish to appear in social media/marketing material, please inform your guide at the start of the trip.​
